ABOUT ME

About me

I'm a photographer in Newport, which is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, where I live with my wife and kids.

I love my home, my family and my community and I love taking photos of them.

Through this website, I hope to turn my photography hobby into a side hustle and be able to justify upgrading to the fancier camera gear that I want!

About our local area

Newport is closeby to Williamstown and the two suburbs share a lot of history. In addition to the usual online resources like Wikipedia, I recommend the excellent Victorian Places website if you'd like to know more about these suburbs and their place in the history of European settlement of Melbourne.

My home is on the traditional lands of the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation, who have a connection with this area going back at least 30,000 years. The local clan, the Yalukit-willum, continued to live and hold cultural gatherings in the area into the 1800s, before they were ushered into reservations pursuant to government policy at the time. It's important to note that they never relinquished their land, nor ceded their sovereignty. Some information about the Inigenous history in our area is available on the Hobsons Bay City Council website.
